Thanks, Mark. And I feel likewise about yours.

Julie, you're quite right. "Permission" and "barrier" are both within. Outside influences can have the effect of triggering, reinforcing, or changing them.

Yeah, and sometimes its as gentle as being driven into the desert!

I like what you've written, but am not sure that "permission" is the most descriptive word... but I get what you mean, nonetheless.

When one's being driven to go someplace (this reminds me of Jesus being driven by the Spirit out into the desert to be tempted...oh, that's a nice, friendly comparison to make) it would seem that permission, as it were, comes from within.

But affirmation, encouragement - always helpful. And not that it's at all easy to trust the inner voice over all the outer ones. But you know that. But I thought it worth mentioning.

Jon - this post motivated me to once again do some wandering around in your blog and website. In so many ways, I feel a deep kinship with you. I was particularly touched by your post called The Suck. Honest confessions are, to me, the best way we have to help encourage others to take an even deeper step down the path. I respect your bravery.
